“We are here to consider the nominee for the Court of
Appeals, Paul Feinman, but before I continue, we are honored today
by having three distinguished members of the Court of Appeals
attend today: the chief judge is here, Janet DiFiore, Leslie Stein,
and Rowan Wilson…
Let me just say, normally, because this was a little rushed, we did
not have the formal public hearing notice requirements to comply,
but had we done that we would have had the president of the bar
association and the president of the trial attorneys come forward
and give their comments as to the nominee. So,
they’re both here. So, as a practical matter,
whether it was a formal public hearing, or not, we will be hearing
from those individuals that will weigh in on the qualifications of
Judge Feinman. So, this, as you know, it is a
special Judiciary Committee meeting. It’s
Governor Cuomo’s Court of Appeal nominee, Judge Paul Feinman.
During the time, I already spoke as to why we didn’t hold a
public meeting.
