"State
Ethics Committee Moves Bill to Create Non-Partisan
Legislative Budgeting Office"
S.3287 this
bill creates to provide analysis to the legislature on
the state budget and legislation, to do fiscal studies and submit reports Breslin: "Just mention that it is
an excellent idea. Long overdue it would
give us an objective seat, not a partisan review or
republican versus democrat, democrat versus republican.
And that we will be able to look to and trust.
Bailey: "When we talk about the fiscal health of our
state, we can't afford to be partisan. I fully
agree with the intent of this bill and support it.
Biaggi: "Move the bill. Fantastic.
Wonderful. The bill is moved out of this committee"
I wanted to make one losing comment, if I may. I
know that this committee was not a regular committee in
terms of its meetings and what it set out to do. but I
not only intend to do that but to have it be a living,
breathing committee to that has regular hearings
and takes very, very seriously. Any suggestions about
how we can make this committee better and how we can
make it as lively as possible. That includes to
bring speakers in to t. And to think broadly. I
think we have a very long horizon in terms of who we can
bring on."
