MICHAEL CARDOZO'S PROPOSED RENOMINATION TO COELIG
August 19, 2024
"Governor
Hochul Announces Renomination
for the Commission on
Ethics and Lobbying in Government"
CJA's comment, submitted September 9, 2024 (8:58 am, 9:12 am) --
Michael Cardozo is corrupt and I so-alerted the Governor on
July 8, 2022, in response to her July 7, 2022 announcement of his proposed
nomination to COELIG. The continuation of my two-part message read: “With
Cardozo as a member, the public’s injury will be compounded. Call me for the
chapter & verse details & EVIDENCE of Cardozo’s long history of unethical,
criminal conduct.” In the absence of response, I asked, a week later, "Were
you not planning to interview me and request substantiating documents?"
I received no call, nor from the so-called “Independent Review Committee” of
15 law school deans.
The consequence of this – and of the sham
vetting of other proposed nominees – is the corruption of COELIG with
respect to its most important function: the handling of ethics complaints
from the public. I furnished the proof of this corruption to the Governor,
by my July 10, 2024 comment on her proposed nomination of James Caras,
supplying her with my July 8, 2022 “DAY 1” complaint to COELIG and its
October 6, 2022 supplement, dismissed by COELIG without investigation, and
my October 2, 2023 complaint and January 29, 2024 complaint that COELIG has
been “sitting on”.
Less than six weeks later, on August 19, 2024,
the Governor announced her proposed renomination of Cardozo. Had anyone
asked for Cardozo’s response to these three complaints – and to my FOIL
requests pertaining thereto to which COELIG had not responded.
