"To
properly understand this highly extraordinary case...it is necessary to go back prior to the inception of any proceeding referred to herein.  It is the predjcate for much that follows.  This can best be provided by the respondent [George Sassower]. In this regard, whenever anything that respondent says is challenged in the evidence it will be so indicated. otherwise, whatever he says is supported by documentary evidence, is supported by petitioner's witnesses, or is uncontradicted.  (at p. 18, underlining in the report)

Appellate Division's November 15, 1982 order -- confirming the Referee's February 4, 1982 report "in its entirety" and denying Sassower's cross-motion as follows, WITHOUT REASONS:  "Respondent has declined to request confirmation of the referee's report, choosing instead to proceed by a cross-motion for an order 'nullifying all of the disciplinary proceedings against respondent, nunc pro tunc...", expunging all records of same,' and for related relief...  To the extent that the cross-motion...is deemed a motion to confirm the referee's report,...the motion is granted to that extent, and is in all other respects denied"
